Academic Showcase
The Crusader and Cadet bands performed their annual Christmas concert this past Sunday. Mr. Payne and his students were thankful for the opportunity to perform for an audience once again; they even performed select pieces from their repertoire of patriotic music since they were not able to hold an evening concert for community members on Veterans' Day. The concert featured student conductors, soloists, and brief explanations regarding the significance of each piece. Many thanks to all family members and other guests who came to support the SHDHS Band Program.

Mary Rose Mission - (Florence) - Provides a hot meal and prayer for those in need. Serve shifts are available 3:30 - 6:00 pm www.maryrosemission.org.
“During my service at Mary Rose Mission, I got to sit by the exit door and as people left I got to take their prayer intentions. At the end of the night, we prayed for all the things people wanted us to pray for. It was really inspiring hearing some people's stories and being able to chat with them. These people are going through so much but they keep persevering. I saw the face of Christ in every single person I talked to, they truly are some of the kindest people you'll meet. I learned that I am very fortunate for everything I have. Being able to live the way I do is a gift and I should always be thankful. I will definitely consider serving at Mary Rose Mission again after the great experience I had.” Junior, Savannah Koch.

Crusaders of the Week
Deacon Larry Kleisinger nominates Isaac Portwood Religion III Crusader of the Week. Isaac was nominated because he is a very well-rounded individual that takes his studies seriously, is a friend to all, and from his writings and participation in class, I can tell he loves his faith. To me, this is the winning formula for success not only here at SHDHS but as Isaac moves on to whatever college he attends and lives out his call to holiness. Congratulations Isaac!
Mr. VB is pleased to nominate Anay Sehgal as Crusader of the Week for Chemistry. Anay arrives to class early, stays late, and is highly engaged in the process of learning Chemistry. He pays attention 100 percent of the time, fearlessly volunteers to answer questions, and cheers for his classmates' successes. Mr. VB is convinced that if you look up the word "morale" in the dictionary, you would see Anay's picture there! Congratulations Anay!
