Candlelight Mass with Bishop Iffert – March 18, 2022, All Are Welcome! Join us to experience Mass in a powerful way! Information from the front officeLimited Tech Day On Tuesday, March 22, SHDHS will take part in the diocesan-wide campaign of limited technology access. Teachers and Students are asked to put their cell phones away as they enter the building, and limit technology use for instructional purposes. We are also encouraging families to limit technology at home and instead enjoy a game night or outdoor activity with each other.
After a two-year delay, brought on by Covid restrictions, SHDHS is excited to once again celebrate our Hall of Fame members with an in-person ceremony. Please join us on Sunday, April 10, 2022, when we will honor the newest members of the SHDHS Hall of Fame. The event begins at 2:00 pm in the beautiful Drees Homes Auditorium, immediately followed by a reception in the Riegler Family Alumni Gallery, Wilson Family Art Gallery, and Betty Dusing Black Box. Tickets to attend this year’s event are $15.00 each and can be purchased by clicking here. Crusader En Blanc donations: Below is the letter sent to grade-level parents from Suzi Francis and Donna Grayson Crusader En Blanc chair. Senior Class donation letter - "And Away You Go" Junior Class donation letter - "Adulting 101" Sophomore Class donation letter - "Celebrate Outdoors" Freshman Class donation letter - "A Summer Day" 2022 Summer Enhancement Math Program July 5,7,12,14,19,21,26,28 & August 2 and 4. The Math program is designed to enhance math skills and remediate basic math concepts to better position students for the school year. Chromebooks Purchase/Transfer - New Students All incoming new students are required to have a Chromebook. Parents will have the option to purchase or transfer a pre-owned device as long as it operates on Chrome O/S. A device can be purchased from SHDHS for $550, which includes a protective case and insurance covered for the entirety of your student’s time at SHDHS. Families are allowed to bring their own Chromebook, however, the device needs to be enrolled under our organization. The cost for transferring a pre-owned Chromebook is $125. Transferred devices will not be covered under SHDHS Insurance. To complete the purchase or transfer of a Chromebook please log in to the portal. Technology Responsible Use Policy
Current Families RE-ENROLL for the 2022-2023 School Year The school year is rapidly going by with only 42 school days left, and we are busy making plans for 2022/2023. Current students are meeting with Counselors working on classes, and new students are currently being accepted. Parents will receive their students' schedules in May and will be required to approve them electronically. The re-enrollment process must be complete before your student will have a schedule for you to approve. Please re-enroll now. Click here to re-enroll current students planning to attend SHDHS for the 2022-2023 school year. You will need to create an account, which will prompt you to re-enroll. Click on the "Re-Enrollment Current Students" button and complete each task. Once completed, a check mark will appear, allowing you to move on to the following form. Any student interested in applying for one or more scholarships for the 2022-2023 school year can click here to access the online form. The deadline to submit scholarship applications for the 2022-2023 school year is extended to Monday, March 21, 2022. With more than $13,000 still available, we strongly encourage all incoming students to apply for as many scholarship opportunities as possible. Please note that students can receive multiple scholarships, in addition to general financial assistance. For scholarships that require the completion of a FACTS application, please note that there is no "income" cut-off or threshold. Even if you're concerned that your family may not qualify for general financial assistance, it is still in your family's best interest to submit a FACTS application (as this will make your son or daughter eligible to apply for the greatest number of scholarships). SHDHS Math Placement Test The SHDHS Math Placement Test is designed for students who wish to take Algebra II Honors as incoming freshmen. The test will be offered on Saturday, April 30 from 8-9 am. ART SHOW Please join us in viewing artwork from students in grades 9-12 enrolled in Art I, II, Media Art, and Art IV. You can view the artwork in the Wilson Family Art Gallery on SHDHS Catholic Identity Initiative Survey was sent out to families last week, please don't forget to complete the online survey which will provide us with a baseline score of perceived Catholic Identity. The consolidated survey results will then be used to determine SHDHS effectiveness in relationship to the NSBECS Standards. Additionally, it will help us to create goals or plans related to the Standards. At a future time, additional surveys will be sent to you to evaluate the effectiveness of these plans/initiatives. Clubs/Organizations
The Peer Social Model Group is comprised of students who are interested in pursuing a career in education, special education, or related services (speech-language pathology, occupational/physical therapy, psychology, counseling) and are invested in helping fellow students build social and communication skills while playing games and participating in conversation activities during Flex one time per week. This small group atmosphere provides opportunities for all students to build friendships and connections within the SHDHS community. The group volunteered to help run the Cru Cafe in February and is currently helping plan activities to celebrate Autism Awareness month in April. New members are always welcome! Academic Showcase
The math department had another exciting day on 3/14 when we celebrated Pi Day. All classes did fun activities and played exciting games involving Pi (3.14159). There was food, music, and fun had by all!
THIS WEEK in Life Sciences Anatomy, Environmental Science, and AP Biology students have been very busy this week exploring many different aspects of the natural world. Anatomy students dissected a sheep brain and cow eye to complete their unit on the Nervous System and the Special Senses. Environmental Science students are observing the life cycle of Painted Lady butterflies and calculating the energy efficiency from one trophic level to the next. AP BIO students completed a lab utilizing gel electrophoresis to solve a fictitious case of shark attacks off the coast of Australia. |

You can find Lizzie in class helping her classmates understand a problem with kindness and respect. When faced with a challenging problem she always perseveres by advocating for help and clarification. Lizzie exhibits a positive outlook and attitude in the classroom that makes her a pure joy to teach. Congratulations Lizzie! Mr. Fay nominates Morgan Bonno as Crusader of the Week based on her performance in Chemistry Honors. Morgan excels in her understanding of the content and offers to help others when they struggle to understand. St. Henry Grade School Presents Moana Jr. Come watch as Princess Moana goes against her parents’ wishes and follows her calling by sailing out to sea on an adventure to return the long-lost heart of the goddess TeFiti, the mother island! Tickets can be purchased by clicking here. The cost is $10 for adults and $7 for students.
The SHDHS Drama Department is pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale for its production of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast”. Performances are on April 1 - 3, and tickets can be purchased online via the SHDHS Theater website. Tickets will be sold at the door if seats are still available for a particular performance. Seating is by General Admission, so seats will not be selected at the time of purchase. Due to credit card processing fees, an additional charge of $.50 per ticket will be assessed for online purchases, bringing the cost to $12.50 for adults and $8.50 for students. |
