Campus Ministry

This week we celebrated the Assumption of Mary into Heaven. This was fitting because our theme for the year, “Arise and Go Forth,” is inspired by Mother Mary. Following Mary’s great ‘Yes’ to be the Mother of God, she immediately “arose and went with haste.” This scripture from Luke reminds us that Mary acted out of boldness, radical trust, and excitement to carry out God's plan for her. This year, we want to imitate Mary by first seeking out God’s unique hopes and promises for every one of us and then acting with trust and confidence, knowing that God will lead us to glorious things. Together let’s “Arise, and Go Forth”!
My name is Annie Poat, and as the Campus Minister of SHDHS, I am the contact person for all retreats, service hours, sacraments, and prayer services. Please reach out with questions at anniepoat@shdhs.org.

Counselors Corner

St. Henry Seniors have already begun applying to college! SHDHS hosted its first College Application Week from August 2 through August 5. On August 2, 56 seniors attended the College Application Day. On August 4 and 5, 30 seniors attended the College Essay Workshop. The SHDHS Counseling and English Departments collaborated to give our seniors a great head start on their applications.
These seniors gave up some last summer days and worked diligently and enthusiastically. They all made great progress on applications and constructing meaningful, impactful college essays. We are all looking forward to a great senior year!
Senior Parent Night - Date Corrected
The SHDHS School Counseling Department will host Senior Parent Night at 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 8, in the Drees Auditorium. Our primary focus will be on college admissions, college applications, and how we can help these seniors navigate this process as partners.
While college admissions can be stressful, our department aims to lessen the stress and increase the joy of a great senior year.

Academic Showcase

Freshman health students
The freshman health students spent the first week meeting their new classmates and learning about the different components of their health (physical, mental/emotional, social). They learned how to work together, the importance of communication and that we are not alone. What a great start to the new school year!

Mrs. Duff's Math classes did a lot of team activities this week to get to know each other and to ease their brains back to math.
