Red Ribbon Week
October 23-31, 2022
Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. Red Ribbon Week is the nation's largest and longest-running drug awareness and prevention program. Next week, the Sources of Strength program has planned Red Ribbon Week activities, a social media campaign, and a cereal drive to support the Emergency Shelter of NKY. Thank you, parents, for partnering with us to promote healthy lifestyles.

Spanish Honor Society Induction Ceremony
La Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica held its Induction Ceremony on October 13, 2022. Our SHDHS chapter, La Sagrada Familia, inducted five new members into the Spanish Honor Society: Alejandra Decima, Lanie Jones, Karol Fernandez, Anay Sehgal, and Allison Torres-Guzman. New members participated in the initiation ceremony, led by President Ella Tabor and Secretary Karla Schmidt. Current members and officers also welcomed the family members of the new inductees and shared in teaching them about the service and activities of the club. We are excited about this upcoming year and thrilled to have our new members join our chapter of la Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica.

The 18th Annual Women in Information Technology Conference is funded by local companies and universities as a development project to encourage young women to enter careers in Information Technology (IT). " Every job is a Tech Job."

Crusaders of the Week

Mrs. VonHandorf nominates Bri Farwick for Crusader of the Week for Art 1 for her consistent time on task, positive interaction with peers, and a great example of a hard work ethic. Bri is fun to be around, always has a smile, and does her absolute best day in and day out. She has improved quite a bit in a few weeks because of her willingness to learn and apply lessons. Way to rock, Bri!
Anay Sehgal was nominated for Crusader of the Week by his Spanish teachers, Mrs. Hasken and Mrs. Coronado. We are so proud of how much you have grown in the language and how far you have come since freshman year! You have put so much time and hard work into improving your proficiency, which has paid off. Your enthusiasm every day in class uplifts your classmates and your teachers too! We appreciate your passion for Spanish and your commitment to the process of learning another language and culture. ¡Felicidades Anay!

Our science students make a lot of sketch notes, scientific drawings, and modeling with clay to make complex topics more accessible. Some excellent examples from Biology, AP Biology, and Anatomy and Physiology Honors. Great job blending art and science, Crusaders!

Campus Ministry

Our SHDHS Freshman class had a wonderful time on retreat! They learned from senior students, were given the protection of the Armor of God, journeyed to the promised land, sang and danced, and had some fun playing games in between. Each student had the chance to experience prayer teams and mass too! We focused on building a strong Cru Community where we look out for our brothers and sisters in Christ. We look forward to next year's retreats as Sophomores.
