The Cru Cafe served Shirley Temples this week in honor of Veteran's Day and it was a huge hit! Shirley Temple was a key icon during the Depression and her charm and innocence entertained soldiers and dispirited Americans during difficult times.

Campus Ministry

Pretzel and Praise
We held our second Pretzel and Praise event this past week, which was a great success. We discussed our high of the week, low of the week, and the buffalo (something odd) of the week. We also offered prayer intentions for loved ones. We look forward to the next Pretzel and Praise Event.
This month we will pray for loved ones who have passed away in the past few years. On All Souls day, we held a short prayer service in the chapel to remember those very people.
Below is a prayer from our prayer service.
Good and gracious God, we pray as one family for the souls of the just that they may experience the eternal glory of heaven with the angels and saints. Help us and all those who grieve to draw near to You, trusting in Your consolation and peace. Amen.
Service Hours
This a reminder that service hours are due by November 30. Each student must have ten service hours completed, five of those being "red service" - working with the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized. All red services must be with a non-profit agency.
This semester Campus Ministry has offered service opportunities with Rose Garden Mission, Go Pantry, Be Concerned, SHDHS, Saint Barbara, and many other agencies, schools, and civic centers. Always check the Community Page in Schoology for new opportunities.
Safe Environment (Parental Opt-Out)
After Thanksgiving Break, St. Henry students will participate in a Diocesan Safe Environment lesson in their Religion classes. This lesson aims to give children the tools they need to help us keep them safe by educating them regarding boundaries, safe and unsafe behaviors, and healthy relationships. Each year, this program will provide a theme that introduces and builds on the basic concepts of the "Teaching Boundaries and Safety Guide."
We ask that you complete the attached form by Tuesday, November 22. Every parent/guardian has the option to have their student "opt-out," in which case the school will provide the parent/guardian(s) with a lesson plan so that they may address the content with their child at home; additionally, during the day of the lesson, your child will attend a study hall in the Media Center.
If you select “opt-in,” your child will be present for the in-class lesson. If we do not receive a response by November 22, your student will automatically be opted in.

Thanksgiving Food Drive -Pie, a Teacher!

Thanksgiving Food Drive - Pie, a Teacher!
SHDHS Student Council will host its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive starting on November 4 and ending on November 18, 2022. This year, the competition will be between the classes. Freshmen and Seniors against Sophomores and Juniors! The winning class will have the chance to put individual names to a drawing for the opportunity to pie a faculty member!
Last year, SHDHS stocked three local food pantries with over 17,000 items donated by this giving community. Students, parents, and staff members each brought over 40 things! Items collected range from canned goods to toiletries, including diapers. Some examples are pasta, pasta sauce, Hamburger Helper, canned meats, cereal, soup, canned fruit, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, money donations, diapers, and ramen noodles. STUCO looks forward to reaching the same goal this year and thanks everyone for consistently helping support its community.
