Crusaders of the Week

Last Semester's Physical Education Classes were loaded with students who displayed outstanding talents and abilities and the propensity to act appropriately, with kindness and consideration for other students. But this student stood out from the rest in every category mentioned above. Freshman Caroline Tabeling has set the gold standard for excellence in Physical Education. Mr. Trame notes every single day, Caroline sets an exceptional example of performance, effort, teachability, adherence to the rules, and treating others with dignity and respect. Additionally, she would always help put equipment away without asking. There were many days when Caroline hosted a shadow student, and with good reason! Caroline models the type of Christian Student-Athlete representative of all St. Henry Crusaders! Congratulations, Caroline Tabeling!!!
Well, let's hear it for the GIRL! Ms. Seguim nominates Savannah Koch for Crusader of the Week. Sav, you've been a rockstar in Broadcast Media and Communication. You have a "Get it Done" attitude that teachers dream of. Your passion is palpable! All your dreams will come true; continue to work hard and focus on the goal. Be your inspiration. Be your role model. Congratulations Savannah! You are an absolute pleasure.

Academic Showcase/Clubs

Gold Key Winner for Scholastic Art and Writing Competition
Senior Savannah Koch created a photography collage about the Women's Protests in Iran and submitted it for the Regional Scholastic Art Competition last Semester. Her piece was selected out of almost 300,000 entries for the highest honor of Gold Key Winner. Her piece will go on to the National competition, making her eligible for multiple scholarships and medals. Her work will also be displayed in the Art Academy of Cincinnati's Art Gallery from February 6-17th. CONGRATS TO SAVANNAH, AND GOOD LUCK AT THE NATIONALS!
First Semester Art Recognition!
Two Visual Art students were selected as "Artists of the Semester" for their consistently high-quality work, creativity, effort, and improvement through all projects completed during the first Semester. The two selected students are Sophomore Magdalene Jump and Freshman Jackie Fernandez- both in Art 2- Drawing and Painting. Congrats, Creative Cru! Thank you for setting such an excellent example for your peers!

Culinary Club cooks Mexican Cuisine!
Last week, 30 Culinary Club members learned Mexican Cuisine's essential ingredients from Mexican native Chef Coronado. After learning the difference between Americanized ingredients and authentic ingredients, club members prepared, cooked, and ate chicken flautas (also called taquitos). Chef Summy also taught club members how to hand-make tortillas. Next month, we will celebrate Valentine's Day with a chocolate-themed session involving truffles and many chocolate-dipped treats.

Triangle Art
This week, the sophomore class showed off their creative talent by making art in Geometry class! Students have been studying the properties of triangles over the last several months. They then put it all together to create art using just triangles!

Computer Science Honors
Computer Science students work on solving riddles. Students are working on spatial and logical thought through riddles and learning to come up with multiple solutions to a single problem.

Digital Media and Broadcast
Senior Savannah Koch spends two days teaching special effects in Adobe Premiere, including laser effects and transporting an image from one place to another.
