Cassba is the annual fundraiser for Catholic Charities, which supports the work of Parish Kitchen, St. Joseph Apartments, The Mobile Food Pantry, school counseling, and several other ministries and services throughout our diocese. An aspect of this fundraiser is the silent auction, which begins online and concludes in person on the day of the event. This year’s Cassba event will be held on Sunday, August 27th. Senior Emma Linkugel, created a piece representing faith in our community which will be available for auction at https://e.givesmart.com/events/wN6/
AP Art students are already setting the bar high!
Our Senior AP art students were challenged with a research project in which they were expected to present and teach the class about two brand-new media or techniques they had never used before. The goal was to get them comfortable with experimenting and taking risks, which is a good portion of their AP Art exam score. Presentations included resin, marble paintings, plaster manipulation, and masking tape art! Well done, Creative Cru!
Building Thinking Classrooms!
Students in Mrs. Duff's math classes spent the first week of school working on their collaboration, communication, and thinking skills. Each day, students chose a card that put them into a random group of 3, and then groups had a variety of tasks to complete. The summer brain cobwebs were dusted off, and everyone is ready for a great year!
Student Council Leadership Overnight
Returning Student Council members began the year with a two-day leadership meeting to build community and prepare for the upcoming school year. They spent several hours planning for upcoming events and generating ideas to improve the experience of the entire student body.
