STUDENT PARKING
Student drivers will be required to park in designated areas. Juniors should park in the lot at the far end of campus, to the right of the main entrance. Seniors should park in the lot next to the Fine Arts Building.
REQUIRED BOOKS AND SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS
Some classes require students to purchase books and supplementary materials. Items will be available in their classrooms during the first week of school. Please note that your FACTS account will invoice your students’ supplementary materials. Please watch for an updated list of supplementary materials in the next newsletter.
PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION CONSENT FORM
If your student requires prescription medicine during the school day, please click here to complete the online consent form by August 8, 2024. A parent must drop medication off at the front office.
ALLERGY FORM
If your student has allergies or special dietary needs (e.g., a Gluten-free diet), please click here and download the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plan, print and return it to the school office by August 8, 2024.
CHROMEBOOKS
If you still need to purchase a Chromebook, click here to purchase. Log in to the portal and click on Purchase a Chromebook. If you have questions, please contact the Technology Department at [email protected].
MORNING DROP-OFF
School begins at 7:45 am. Students will enter at the main school entrance. The school opens at 7:00 am. Please pull up, as close as possible, to the circle in front of the main entrance for morning drop-off.
AFTER-SCHOOL PICK-UP
For after-school pickup, please park in a marked parking space in the main lot (do not park in the fire lane or front circle). Students will have a staggered release beginning at 2:37 pm. Please stay in your car when picking up your student from practices or after-school activities. All students should be picked up by 3:00 pm unless they are involved in an activity immediately after school. Thank you for following these simple procedures to help keep all our students safe.
LOCKS/LOCKERS AND BACKPACKS
Students will continue to be allowed to carry their backpacks throughout the day and will also have access to lockers. Last year, we introduced a policy that only distributes locks upon request. If your child wishes to have a lock for the 2024-2025 school year, please complete the Google form below and agree to the terms. [Lock Request Form]
Reporting Tardy, Absence
We have a 24-hour message system for parents to report students who are tardy or absent. Please call the main office anytime, day or night, at 859-525-0255, press zero (0), and follow the instructions.
Absentee Notes Required
Upon returning from an absence period (whole or half-day), a student must bring a note from their parents or guardian. A note is required even if parents pick up their child or talk to the office by phone. This note must include the following information:
- Date the note was written;
- Student’s first and last name;
- Date of absence;
- The specific reason for the absence;
- Signature of parent/guardian.

SERVICE HOURS REQUIRED
Service Hours - If you have any questions about Service Hours, please direct your questions to Mrs. Poat at [email protected].
Incoming freshmen should keep a personal record of the service they do. Keep a record of (1) the agency you served with, (2) the number of hours you served for, and (3) the contact information (email or phone number) of somebody at the agency who can confirm your presence. When you arrive at school, we will help you set up a MobileServe account associated with SHDHS and will help you log any summer service hours.
Service Terminology

Red Hours - Onsite, direct service benefiting people who are disadvantaged (poor, vulnerable, and marginalized in society) through non-profit agencies. Examples: Mary Rose Mission, Special Olympics, St. Vincent DePaul, Mission Trips, Nursing Homes, Hospitals, Urban Education centers, Pro-Life Events, Rose Garden Mission, Redwood, GoPantry, Master Provisions, etc.

White Hours - Onsite, direct service benefiting a parish, school, diocese, or civic group. Examples: Open House, Parish Festival, Fish Fry, Vacation Bible School, Tutoring, Peer Ministry, CCD aide or teacher, Sports Camps, Trunk or Treat, New CRU Day, service at a parish, school, or civic community that benefits that institution or community.
Picture Day
Picture Day is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20, during the school day. Students can wear a nice shirt or spirit wear with their uniform pants.

OPEN FEC EXECUTIVE BOARD POSITIONS: The Family Engagement Council (FEC) has one Executive Board Position open for the upcoming 24/25 school year. If you are interested in getting involved, please get in touch with Elaine Stich at [email protected].
SECRETARY: The secretary will be responsible for taking minutes at all FEC General and Executive Board meetings, will help with communications and social media needs, and will be eligible to participate in Executive Board decisions and votes.

BACK TO SCHOOL BASH
Help is needed for our upcoming Back-To-School Bash! Volunteers are needed to work with the FEC and Advancement Department to coordinate food/beverages, gaming/entertainment, set-up and clean-up, etc. The Grateful Dads will be playing this event, and we are hoping to make it bigger and better than ever! LABOR DAY WEEKEND DAYTIME BINGO FUNDRAISER
This Bingo is a huge fundraising source and necessary for free events to continue! A chair is needed to be the main contact for Dan Hukle who runs each Bingo; will need to work with Dan to determine the number of volunteers needed, the shifts needed, and create a sign-up to help recruit volunteer workers; must be available to be at the BINGO to make sure all goes smoothly. Volunteers are also needed to work the door, sell pull-tabs, sell concessions, paymaster, etc. This will be a DAYTIME Bingo so everyone will be free for evening plans! Varsity Girls Golf brought home the All A 9th Region championship with a team score 396. This qualifies us for a team spot in the All-A State Tourney in September. Carly Apgar had a low score for the Crusaders, Taylor Walsh, Savannah Butler, and Allie Decima, who were carding their personal best. Alexis Fassbender rounded out the team.

CRU TEXT-A-THON
On Monday, July 29, over 200 athletes, coaches, athletic department personnel, and the Cru Text committee came together to raise funds for the athletic department and individual team funds. All the money raised from this night will go directly toward the student-athletes.
We have surpassed our initial goal of $75,000, having raised over $100,000.
Some of the money will be going towards the following items but not limited to:
- Travel bags for teams
- Hudl game video for several of the teams
- Updated gym floor
- Team bonding events
- New carpet in home locker rooms
- Use of a personal trainer for the team

BOOSTERS UNIFORM/SPIRIT WEAR SALE
The Uniform/Spirit Wear sale sponsored by the SHDHS Boosters will be held on August 12 from 12:00-1:30 pm in the cafeteria. Parents are welcome to join at 12:00 when the kids leave school.
We are accepting cash and check payments. All gently used spirit wear types will be available, including khaki pants and polo shirts.
