An Important Message from Principal Gish
Dear Crusader parents and students,
After many conversations with Diocesan and local administrators, we will resume our plans for the Homecoming dance at Receptions on October 1, 2021. At this time, masks will be required for the dance. We will continue to monitor case activity and add additional protocols as needed. The dress code will be strictly enforced. Click here for details on the dress code. We appreciate parent involvement in the selection and appropriateness of dresses.
The administration, faculty, and staff of St. Henry have survived with the COVID graduating classes of 2020 and 2021. While both of these classes missed many “normal” traditions, they were able to make new memories that were unique to them and will last a lifetime. Your support as we guide the 2022 class to their own memories is greatly appreciated.
Please click here to read the information from our Superintendent, Mrs. Kendra McGuire, regarding COVID protocol changes that will be implemented beginning 9/7/21.
Mr. David G. Gish
Principal

Information from the front office
Out of Uniform dates (OOU)
On non-uniform days students must use proper discretion in choosing their attire. Clothing may not have any references to alcohol/drugs or politics. Also, anything questionable or with a double meaning may not be printed on the clothing. Shorts must be of a proper length (mid-thigh or below). Shirts or tops without sleeves, jackets and other outdoor garments are not permitted. No bare midriff or cleavage may be showing. Also, no off-the-shoulder shirts are to be worn. Hooded sweatshirts will be permitted on non-uniform days. Students are not allowed to wear apparel from another high school. Hats are only permitted on special themed days. The consequence of not following the regulations may result in in-school detention, and the student is required to correct the problem.

SHDHS has planners available for purchase. The planners are $20 each.
There are many varieties of planners to choose from, but ours is detailed to meet all the requirements for good executive functioning skills. Our planner includes the following elements:
- Paper version (research supported)
- Helps to improve time management skills.
- Demonstrates how to balance commitments.
- Highlights the importance of due dates.
- Aids in understanding the "passage of time."
- Increases perception of how long an assignment will require.
- Helps to make time visual.
The tabs are also a resource to students with information that pertains to test taking strategies, bell schedules, grading scale, school calendar, how to handle stress and anxiety, and self-monitoring of grades to achieve a desirable goal. AP Human Geography Geocaches
Mrs. Kaiser-Munday’s AP Human Geography students are studying place and time distance through the popular activity of geocaching. Much like a giant treasure hunt, geocaching consists of hunting for and finding a hidden object by means of GPS coordinates. St. Henry students have hidden nine geocaches in the front area of the school for others to find. Clues to the whereabouts of the nine geocaches have been posted to Schoology. Each geocache container holds a small slip of paper and those who find one is asked to write their name on the paper. Happy Hunting!

Senior Ellie Quinn won the school year's first Think the Vote Contest with her answer to the question, "Should the US increase the amount of taxes it collects?"
Ellie won a cash prize and some fun Bill of Rights Institute material (a nonpartisan organization that is designed to help students form their political opinions) and will be entered to win the grand prize of a scholarship worth $1000 at the end of the school year. Congratulations, Ellie!

Crusader of the Week
Mrs. Reding nominates Emma Stocker Crusader of the Week for Geometry. Right off the bat, Emma started the school year ready to go! She asks great questions in class and comes in for extra help when needed. She has quickly proven to be a leader among her small group when working on class assignments. Emma’s enthusiasm rubs off on those around her. Thank you, Emma, for making our 5th-period Geometry class positive and engaging. Keep up the great work! Congratulations!
Mrs. Maloney’s pick for Crusader of the Week is Caleb Tally. Caleb exemplifies what it means to be a Crusader. Always willing to go beyond what is required, he has taken both Honors Anatomy and AP BIO as elective science classes. He is prepared for class every day, is attentive while in class, and treats peers and adults alike with respect. He asks questions that clarify information or directions, and by doing so, benefits the entire group. During NTI last year, Caleb excelled at staying connected and engaged with the class and returned to school without missing a beat. Congratulations Caleb!

HOMECOMING FLOAT COMMITTEE HELP NEEDED!
- Student Council is in the process of recruiting students and forming grade-level float committees to build Homecoming floats for our first-ever parking lot Homecoming Parade on Thursday 9/30, in between the Varsity Boys and Girls Soccer games. We need parent involvement and support to help the grade level teams build floats safely, smoothly, and in accordance with the approved timeline. Please contact Elaine Stich at [email protected] if you are willing to be a parent supervisor for your child's grade.
- We are still in need of (2) trailers on which the grades can build their floats upon. We are hoping to have the trailers on campus parked behind the school from 9/20 - 9/30, but we are willing to work with trailer owners if that timeline is too long.
- We are also looking for six open-air vehicles to follow the floats and host our Homecoming Court nominees (convertibles, pickup trucks, jeeps, etc.). Please contact Elaine Stich at [email protected] if you can help us out!
HOMECOMING TAILGATE - SAVE THE DATE!
The FEC will be sponsoring a tailgate from 3:00-5:00 pm before the start of the Varsity Boys Soccer game on Thursday, 9/30. The tailgate will include hot dogs/brats, bagged snacks, waters, tailgate games like cornhole, ladder golf, bucket pong, music, and more! The cost of the tailgate will be a donation to GO PANTRY. The tailgate is open to students, parents, families, and alumni. More details coming soon! If you are interested in helping organize/work this event, we could really use you! Please contact Elaine Stich at [email protected].
