Mrs. Alison Duff has been recognized as a Distinguished Educator by the national nonprofit Next Gen Personal Finance (ngpf.org) for outstanding commitment to professional development in real-world personal finance topics. To date, Alison has earned 6 NGPF Certifications, each of which requires 10 hours of live, collaborative coursework on a key personal finance topic and passing a one-hour Certification Exam. Congratulations Mrs. Duff! AP PHYSICS
On Monday, August 26th, twenty AP Physics 1 students, plus ten stopwatches, plus a parking lot, plus a 16-pound (oops ... 7.3-kilogram) bowling ball equals a fun outdoor lab activity. Mr. VB's students rolled a bowling ball down the parking lot hill parallel to the driveway and measured elapsed time at specified distances. Students then created graphs from the data to reinforce concepts of position, velocity, and acceleration being discussed in the classroom. Later in the year they'll use their data to calculate the slope of the driveway.
