The Astronomy students made a scale model of the solar system spanning the SHDHS campus. The Sun was scaled down to the size of a softball, and most of the planets were then so small that they were barely visible. Linked here is a video with drone footage to show this project in action.
CRUSADER OF THE WEEK
Mrs. Heinrich nominates Senior Cameron Darnell for Crusader of the Week for Chorus.
"Cameron is a wonderful student who is new to choir this year. Being the only boy in a class of female singers is a challenge, but he takes it like a champ. Although singing is a vulnerable practice, Cameron takes it seriously and does his best at every rehearsal. When asked to sing one-on-one with Mrs. Heinrich, he did so with grace and maturity. Cameron is a great example of what it means to be a Crusader, and I could not be more proud to be his teacher!"
Ms. Cruz nominates Sophomore Andrew Stewart for Crusader of the Week for ASL 1.
"Andrew always comes to the 7th bell with a positive can-do attitude! He's helpful towards others, and if you ask him for a favor, he says yes with a smile. Andrew is a great addition to class."

Join us for the third annual Carrie Williams Memorial Scholarship Euchre Tournament on Saturday, November 30! Come for an evening of euchre, food and drink, and fun as we raise funds for the Carrie Williams Memorial Scholarship! Our first two years were a HUGE success and we can't wait for the third!
Here are this year's options:
- Tournament play, including dinner and unlimited soft drinks, is now $40.
- For those who would like to take their chance at winning even more, you can opt to play in SKINS for an additional $10.
- This year, the tournament will be a bit shorter, 8 rounds instead of 10.
- We’re also offering a new spectator ticket for those that want to come for dinner but aren’t playing euchre. This ticket will include dinner and unlimited soft drinks for $25.
The silent auction, split the pot and cash bar will be available to players, spectators and anyone who wants to just stop by and hang out with us for the night. No need to register if you're not planning on joining us for dinner.
It’s going to be a blast! Registration form
Can't make the euchre tournament? Give to the Carrie Williams Memorial Foundation online at any time.
If you’re interested in sponsorship opportunities, donating to our silent auction, or a high school student looking for service hour opportunities, please contact [email protected].
The Carrie Williams Memorial Foundation was founded in 2022 by Carrie's family, with the mission of assisting students in financial need at local Catholic schools. Education was Carrie's passion, and this was evident in the love she poured into her students. This scholarship helps her passion live on.
