The freshman health classes welcomed St. Elizabeth Healthcare Nurse Educator Joyce Jacobs in our classes today. She spent the entire class discussing all things vape, smokeless tobacco, and tobacco, as well as bringing in some pig lungs and visuals. The class saw various THC pens and learned the newest trends and some startling statistics. We are currently learning about lungs, so it was perfect timing to learn about the dangers and hope to reduce adolescent vaping.

EMPOWERING GOD'S CHILDREN

PURPOSE: Empowering God's Children is an age-appropriate comprehensive program through which educators (teachers, catechists, and youth ministers) and parents can give children and youth the tools they need to protect themselves and know what to do if someone tries to violate their boundaries. Each year, the program provides a theme that introduces and builds on the basic concepts of the Teaching Boundaries and Safety Guide.

She has successfully guided her two sons, Ethan and Lake, to school track records, with Ethan winning the 3200m at the 2018 Kentucky State Championship and setting a mile record, while Lake earned the 800m record in 2024.
