Dear Parents,
The U.S. Congress is in talks now to pass the Educational Choice for Children Act. This is a scholarship tax credit that would be created at the federal level and students in ALL 50 states would be eligible for the funds to help offset the cost of Catholic school tuition. As you know, Kentucky failed to pass Amendment 2 last fall and our state is quickly falling behind in school choice initiatives across the country. This is making it harder and harder for families to afford a Catholic education and for our parishes to subsidize it.
The USCCB sent out an action alert this week inviting you to urge Congressional leaders to pass this bill during the budget reconciliation process. Please follow this link to the USCCB’s action alert page to send your message.
Here is more information on the bill if you would like to learn more:
It only takes a few minutes and hopefully the more voices they hear from, the better chance we have of this passing! Thanks for your time and please keep these efforts in your prayers.
Sincerely,
Grant Brannen

Congratulations to Eileen Michels, who was joyfully welcomed into the Church through the sacrament of baptism on Sunday, May 4. May God bless Eileen as she continues this beautiful journey of faith.

Seniors in AP and Art IV had their final SHDHS Art Show this past Sunday. They were welcomed by a large crowd gathered to show their appreciation and support of the talent, commitment, and passion of this Senior group. Excellent job, Seniors! YOU WILL BE MISSED!

Junior, Brady Aubuchon was a 2024-2025 representative in the Booth County Youth Cabinet. The Boone County Youth Cabinet is a leadership program for high school juniors established in 1999. The BCYC program fosters students' development in areas of leadership and civic responsibility by offering an opportunity to learn about local government, interactions with local officials, and participation in service learning activities.
CRUSADER OF THE WEEK

Ms. Vollmer nominates Sophomore Ethan Stover for Crusader of the Week for English II.
" While there are many students who deserve recognition for their work this year, Miss Vollmer wants to recognize a student who has put in a lot of work to do their best in English II. Ethan may be quiet, and even reserved at times, but he is a diligent student. He initiates asking for help and support and will revise something until he feels that is up to the standard set for the class. He takes close notes, and is not deterred from answering a question even if he is not quite sure of the answer. His work ethic and resiliency is to be admired. It has been a joy to have such a tenacious student in class and to see them overcome adversity in the classroom. Congrats, Ethan, on this well deserved recognition!"
Mr. Zvosecz nominates Sophomore Emily Gross for Crusader of the Week for Religion II.
"While Emily may have a quiet disposition, she participates and shares her perspective in class even when others may be unwilling to speak up. She has great insights which she shares in her writing and between passing periods. Emily has also expressed continuing her study of the faith outside of the curriculum, seeking to deepen her knowledge and love of God, and this had led to her place on the recent Italy trip. Congratulations, Emily!"
