For the second year in a row, Nathan Francis has earned the title of Kentucky State Champion in the Trig-Star competition, a prestigious mathematics contest administered by the National Society of Professional Surveyors. Trig-Star recognizes outstanding high school students who excel in mathematics, with a focus on Trigonometry, and aims to highlight the real-world applications of math while promoting awareness of the surveying profession.
Congratulations, Nathan, on this impressive achievement—and best of luck as we await your results on the national exam!

Congratulations to the Spanish students from SHDHS who attained national recognition for excellent performance on the 2025 National Spanish Examinations.
Students from St. Henry District High School have a long history of high achievement on these exams and were taught by Spanish teachers Elizabeth Hasken and Ruth Coronado.
The National Spanish Examinations are administered each year in grades 6 through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 55,000 students participating each year.”

Mrs. Ackerman’s English III classes celebrated the literature and culture of the 1920s. After reading The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, students explored themes of the American Dream, social change, and the illusion of wealth. The class also examined the powerful voices of the Harlem Renaissance through poetry and prose, analyzing the works of influential Black writers who shaped the era’s cultural revolution. Concluding with the novel Passing by Nella Larsen, discussing race, identity, and belonging in a modernizing world.
