Dear Crusader Families,
As we close out another remarkable year at St. Henry District High School, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to our students, families, faculty, and supporters. Each of you plays a vital role in making SHDHS not just a school, but a community rooted in faith, excellence, and tradition.
This year has been filled with growth, achievement, and unforgettable moments—many of which are captured in the video above. As you watch, I hope you feel proud of all that we’ve accomplished together and inspired by the spirit that makes our school so special.
Thank you for a wonderful year. Have a safe, joyful summer, and I look forward to all that lies ahead in the new school year.
St. Henry, pray for us.
Mr. Grant Brannen

On Thursday, May 8, the entire St. Henry District High School community gathered in a spirit of reverence and joy to celebrate the completion of the long-awaited Grotto Project. What began as a vision in 2022 has now become a sacred space on campus, brought to life through the generosity of donors, families, and friends of SHDHS.
The ceremony included a special blessing of the Grotto and the traditional May Crowning, a beloved Catholic ritual that honors the Blessed Mother during the month of May. Students, faculty, alumni, and supporters joined together for this memorable event, with the full student body in attendance.
Principal Grant Brannen reflected on the significance of the day, saying, “This project is more than stone and structure—it’s a symbol of our enduring faith and the strength of our St. Henry District High School community.”
SHDHS would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the many individuals whose vision, support, and prayerful presence helped make the Grotto a reality. While not all were able to attend the ceremony, we gratefully acknowledge the following contributors and supporters:
- Richard Jansen and Stephanie Renaker-Jansen
- John McCoy
- Craig Zumdick
- Chris Cook
- Beckie Middendorf
- Janet Gulla
- Courtney Hoffer
- Dave Otte
- Tina Ryan
- Mary Beth Beimesch
- Vince and Kathy Bessler
- Dennis and Angie Boh
- Terry and Rosie Depenbrock
- Paul and Anne Schneider
- Dan and Wendy Tobergte
- Louis and Jessie Tobergte
Following the ceremony, guests were invited to enjoy coffee and cookies in the Drees Homes Auditorium lobby, a small token of appreciation for all who made the Grotto possible.
We invite you to enjoy these beautiful moments captured during this meaningful celebration of faith, tradition, and community.

The inaugural Powderpuff Tournament brought excitement and generosity to the SHDHS field on May 9! This fun, all-girls flag football tournament raised over $1,200 and collected numerous canned goods in support of Go Pantry, a local non-profit that provides food to children in need when school is not in session. More than 60 girls took to the field to compete in the games, while boys stepped up as coaches and referees. A crowd of spectators came out to cheer on the teams, bringing with them generous donations of food and funds for the cause. A big shout-out to Lyndsey Payne, SHDHS senior and Go Pantry Ambassador Committee member, for organizing and leading such a fun and impactful event!

The Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society ventured to the Federal Reserve of Cleveland branch in Cincinnati this week after exams. They learned how money is distributed throughout the United States, how they process older bills, how much money is being distributed, and even played a very fierce game of Jeopardy!

Evan Parhad and Brady Aubuchon completed the Regional Youth Leadership program for the 2024-25 school year. Admission to this program is highly selective with only 50 students from the Cincinnati region selected. Modeled after Leadership Northern Kentucky, Regional Youth Leadership (RYL) is a community leadership development program for high school juniors in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. The 7-month program is a series of sessions held monthly during the school day from September through March focusing on different topics that inform and strengthen student awareness of the opportunities that exist in our region. Students took an in depth look at a variety of topics including economic development, healthcare, human services, non-profits, local government and the judicial system.

The SHDHS Mural Team has been hard at work making the mural come to life in the 400 hallway. Initial sketching is almost complete with base colors going in. We will be working on it through the first week of June, but then will take a break until August. Our goal is to have it complete by the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
