Our Cru Spirit Store has officially reached $10,000 in profit! A huge shoutout to Monica Gumz, who had the vision and fortitude to lead this effort. One of the major parts of our identity is school spirit, and the Cru Spirit Store has truly brought that to life.
Everything you purchase goes directly back into building a better SHDHS campus. Thanks to your support! The store's profits went toward the parking lot repairs completed on December 8th.

This year's annual toy drive was a success! Campus Ministry students dropped off toys for 33 foster kids from the Diocecean Catholic Childrens Home! SHDHS showed our Cru-Faith and our generous Christian spirit by purchasing toys for kids who are in need of extra Christmas cheer this year.

Earlier this month, students in Ms. Brady's Holocaust Studies class embarked on a deeply meaningful visit to the Cincinnati Museum Center, where they experienced several powerful opportunities to confront history, memory, and the enduring importance of human dignity. Our group received early admission to the Auschwitz Exhibit, allowing students the rare gift of walking through the galleries before the museum opened to the public. In the quiet of the morning, equipped with audio guides, they moved through artifacts, testimonies, and images that traced the path of Auschwitz from its construction to liberation. This contemplative environment allowed them to reflect deeply, uninterrupted, as they encountered the personal belongings of victims such as shoes, suitcases, prayer books, and children’s items. Many students later shared that seeing these objects made the history they had studied suddenly feel personal, immediate, and profoundly human.
After the exhibit, students had the honor of meeting Dr. Henry Fenichel, a local Holocaust survivor who was imprisoned as a young child in Bergen-Belsen, and then wrapped the day with a visit to the Holocaust & Humanity Center. Dr. Fenichel bravely shared his family’s story: from his father’s deportation and murder in Auschwitz, to his and his mother’s time in hiding, their arrest, and their eventual survival through a rare prisoner exchange that allowed them passage to British Palestine. Students were deeply moved by his courage, warmth, and willingness to speak about the most painful moments of his childhood so that others may learn. Back at school, they spoke repeatedly about how hearing his testimony brought the realities of the Holocaust to life in ways no book or documentary could. The final stop was in the Holocaust & Humanity Center, which highlights the stories of Holocaust survivors who later made their homes in Cincinnati and the surrounding region. Through interactive exhibits and conversations with docents, students connected the global history of the Holocaust to the lived experiences of individuals in our own community. Many have said that this field trip will stay with them always, not only because of what they learned, but because of whom they encountered and the personal stories they carried back with them.

Campus Ministry students gathered to celebrate the Advent season with music, snacks, a gift exchange, writing Christmas cards for the Passionist Nuns, and lots of laughs!

Our Fine Arts Department wrapped up the semester with two beautiful Christmas concerts. On Wednesday, December 10, the Beginning Band and Advanced Band performed under the direction of Mr. Wyatt. The following evening, December 11, our Chorus and Chamber Choir took the stage, directed by Mrs. Heinrich.
Both performances showcased the talent, hard work, and dedication of our students. We are incredibly proud of all they accomplished, and we are grateful to our directors for guiding them to create such beautiful and festive music.

Since Thanksgiving, freshmen in Crusader 101 have been getting an introduction to programming by writing the code to create images.
We're looking forward to next semester, when they will work on interactive and animated images!.

Y Club members attended KYA (Kentucky Youth Assembly) this week. This event replicates the process of how a bill becomes law in the Kentucky government. Our students submitted two bills, one successfully made it out of committee and through one of the chambers, and the other made it out of committee, through both chambers, and was signed by the Governor. Students had a great time and learned a lot about how the American Government functions.
