Congratulations to our Freshman STEM students who just completed their first engineering module! Their task was to build a car powered by one standard-sized mouse trap that traveled a minimum of 5 meters with a goal of traveling the greatest distance possible. Congratulations to the top 3 winning teams pictured above, and especially to the overall winning team of Kayden Trieu, Ben Dunham, Parker Richmond, and Tyler Williams, whose car, Paper Cha$er, traveled 16.0 meters to win the competition for this year.
Great job everyone!
This week, a majority of the SHDHS students are currently learning the important concept of Trigonometry in their math classes. All sophomores in Geometry and Geometry Honors are presently working on Trigonometry using Right Triangles. Freshman, juniors, and seniors in the courses of Algebra II, Algebra II Honors, Pre-Calculus, and Pre-Calculus Honors are excited about learning Trigonometry using the Unit Circle. The SHDHS Math Department enjoys this time of year as students from across grade levels can have awesome math conversations!

Crusaders of the Week
Mrs. Kaiser is excited to say that Eric Robinson is the Freshman Health Crusader of the Week. Eric is lively, personable, polite, and caring. He has compassion and understanding for others with a strong interest in the various topics discussed in Health class. He participates in class discussions, lights up the room with his smile, and is a friend to many. Eric is such a kind-hearted person who is ready to help in any way. The freshman class is lucky to have Eric Robinson in the class of 2025. Congratulations Eric!
Danny Veselsky, today is your day! You are the Crusader of the Week for Computer Science Honors. Danny, every single day, you bring a great attitude, an amazing amount of engagement, and always a positive attitude to class. You are open about your faults almost to a fault! You are kind to all the underclassmen and truly engage with everyone around you. You do not judge; you are kind. Ms. Seguim notes it has been a pleasure spending your senior year teaching or trying to teach you. Good luck in the upcoming months! Most importantly, good luck to everyone you will meet; they may need it! Congratulations Danny!

FEC News
For those who are new to SHDHS or for those who are unsure of what the FEC is or does, here is some information as well as how you can get involved.
The Family Engagement Council (FEC) is a partnership created this school year among families, administrators, faculty, and students. The mission has been to build community and parent involvement across a variety of social, service, hospitality, and fundraising events.
The goal of the FEC is for parents to play a significant role in the school community and share their passion for SHDHS with the community at large, all while creating lasting connections of their own.
The FEC is a more modern version of a PTO. While we have continued supporting the traditional events of the past PTO, we have a broader vision to do more, help more, engage more, grow more.
The FEC typically meets every other month and communicates in-between via email and sometimes the CruParents Facebook Page.
This year, the FEC has accomplished the following:
- Back-To-School Teacher Luncheon
- Teacher Grants for classroom/club needs
- Back 2 School Bash with food/beverage trucks, live music
- Homecoming tailgate for all students/parents/alumni
- Dinner for Seniors at their off-campus Senior Retreats
- New Parent and All-Parent off-campus Happy Hours
- Staff Christmas gifts from SHDHS families
- Fundraising via a Pampered Chef , two special Bingos, Fallfest Family Putt-Putt
- Schoolwide Blue Ribbon student T-shirts
- Senior Signs for special Senior recognition throughout the school year
- Catholic Schools Week student donut/coffee breakfast
- Catholic Schools Week staff take-and-go lunch
- Service projects for students and parents
- Parent Night at a Varsity Basketball home game
- Teacher Appreciation Week festivities/recognition
- Senior flowers/Senior signs
In order to continue the above events and commitments, we are always in need of new faces, new energy, and new community! Please consider getting involved in the FEC! If you would like more information, or to be added to our FEC email distribution, or have any great ideas for future FEC involvement, please reach out to Elaine Stich at [email protected]. This is a team effort, and we look forward to making our Cru community even bigger and stronger TOGETHER!
