3/21/2022 - Down Syndrome Awareness Day and Crazy sock day!
March 21 is a day to bring our community together and do activities to educate others on the importance of supporting our friends and family who have directly or indirectly experienced life with Down Syndrome.
One of our activities to bring awareness was to recognize students for doing Random Acts of Kindness. The Hail Family donated 21 pairs of socks from the World Down Syndrome International foundation to those students who were caught being kind. Students wore mismatched, colorful, or crazy socks to show their support of Jenna, on March 21. The Cru Cafe was open and Jenna and her "Cru" served her favorite springtime drinks, lemonade, and Arnold Palmer. Jenna passed out stickers in the morning as well.
Together we can make a difference! Once a Crusader Always a Crusader.

Clubs/Organizations
Congrats to the FPS Team for placing 6th in the State at the Governor’s Cup competition!! Sydney Hennessey, Gracie Greber, Ella Rolfsen, Sam Lewis, and Carson Gould (who is the team alternate) worked hard all year to get this far!! They hope to get a bid to Internationals in June and repeat last year's success at the highest level of this competition.
The Crusader Family is proud of ALL of our competitors at the State Finals: George Barsan, Charlie Barsan, Noah Francis, Killian Hicks, Harry Barsan, Moira Fagarang, Andrew Goodwin, Jack Goodwin, and Mitchell Wolking. They put in many hours of hard work, but the competition was fierce this year. Several of our competitors made their first showing at the State Finals, and that was quite an achievement on its own. Congrats, CRU!!

Academic Showcase
Computer Science Honors students tried to Escape the Room during no tech Tuesday!
Art 2 students took "Tech Free" day to a whole new level by shutting down the phones and getting their hands on some clay! We spent the day at Queen City Clay learning how to throw pieces on a potter's wheel. The kids did an amazing job and picked up on the process very quickly. The Queen City employees will glaze the pieces the kids made and the students will get them back next week!
Spanish 1 students learned how to dance the bachata, one of the most popular music styles in the Dominican Republic
The seniors recently completed a project "Faith After High School". They researched ministries, clubs, and parishes that are present at the colleges, universities, military bases that can be attended after high school, which will help them stay connected to their faith.
Donna Heim from the Newman Center at NKU and an SHDHS alumni/seminarian and John Baumann came to visit all the senior classes on Tuesday, March 22, to talk on this subject and answer questions the seniors had.
