The cast and crew of "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" would like to thank everyone who came to see this production. Each performance brought in a near-record crowd for the Drees Homes Auditorium, for a total of over 1400 attendees. It was an honor to provide the community with this fine arts experience.
SHDHS would especially like to thank all the grade school students who joined the cast for "Be Our Guest" and the "Finale". The high school cast members were so excited to share this experience with you! Everyone at SHDHS hopes that you will grace our stage again soon. The next opportunity is at the Summer Drama Camp; click here to register now!

Senior Jay Giffin shared insight about ASD from a personal perspective. On Wednesday, the Cru Cafe featured a Sparkling Blue Gatorade drink as we aimed to “Light it up Blue” for Autism Awareness.

Information from the front office
A Message from the Diocese of Covington:
Kentucky has been approved to provide P-EBT benefits for the 2021-2022 school year. For a student to be eligible for the 2022-2023 P-EBT benefits, a student must attend a school participating in the National School Lunch Program AND must be eligible to receive free/reduced meals (includes all students at CEP schools). For families to be able to receive these benefits they must apply for free/reduced lunch at lunchapplication.com before the end of this school year if they haven’t applied this school year.
If you are approved for free/reduced meals for this school year these benefits will be carried over for the first 30 school days next year. It is very unlikely that we will be providing free meals to all families next school year.
If you have questions please contact Jackie Kaiser, at [email protected] or 859-392-1500.

Young Boone Group Participates in Take Down Tobacco National Day of Action
On April 1, our SHDHS Young Boone group joined health educators, parents, advocates, and concerned citizens who came together for the Take Down Tobacco National Day of Action event that raised awareness of the problem of tobacco use in our community. Last Friday, 51 students showed up to pick up trash on Mall Road in Florence in honor of Take Down Tobacco Day.
The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids works to save lives by advocating for public policies that prevent kids from using tobacco products, help smokers quit, and protect everyone from secondhand smoke.

Academic Showcase
All Rise! Miss Vollmer's English II students just finished reading A Separate Peace by John Knowles. The book is set in 1940s New England and delves into the lives of Gene Forrester and his best friend Phineas at the dawn of their adulthood and their impending service in WWII. To finish their deep dive into the novel, Miss Vollmer created a mock trial! Students had to work in teams to build an argument, find textual evidence to support their claims, think critically to anticipate the opposing team's claims, and communicate clearly to the judges present. They built truly impressive cases in just a few days of classwork. Celebrity judges were invited in to help with proceedings, and objections were provided to make sure that things were staying by the book. Based on the following testimony, we rest our case that this experience was indeed a success!
The STEM and STEM Honors students viewed all the finalist videos and voted for a winner in each category for our Rube Goldberg Machines. Congratulations to everyone! Great job CRU!

Crusaders of the Week
Mrs. Vaillancourt nominates Gabe Thelen for Crusader of the Week for Honors Geometry. Not only is it a pleasure to be Gabe's math teacher, but his fellow students also voted and overwhelmingly agreed that Gabe is deserving of this honor. Gabe works hard, is kind and compassionate to his peers, and is overall the embodiment of what a Crusader of the Week should be. Congratulations Gabe!!
Although there are many deserving students, Mrs. Bessler nominates Gabby Pitsic for Crusader of the Week for STEM Explorations Honors for 2021-2022.
