Congratulations to the choristers of Chamber Choir and Chorus for wrapping up their Spring Choir Concert, "Motets to Musicals," on Thursday, 4/28. The group sang music spanning the centuries from sacred to secular, from simple chant mode 6 to highlights from Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton - and many things in between. This was actually the first official spring choral concert live in person since the opening of the Drees Homes Auditorium due to the pandemic, and the students opened this tradition with a spectacular performance.

Campus Ministry
Happy Easter! “We are Easter people, and Alleluia is our song!” Pope John Paul II.
It is fitting to end the school year during the 50 days of the Easter season. According to St. Augustine, as Easter people, we are called to place our faith and hope in the risen Jesus by imitating Him in daily life, by the way, we speak, think and act. As Campus Minister, I am privileged to share some of the Easter joy my students have recently seen. They are Easter people! Students were allowed to express what they learned during Lent, either through a written reflection or artistic expression. The following is a sample of each:
“Each day in class, I have been able to connect back with God in ways I never thought I could….I came across a daily scripture verses that helped show me the way towards the right path of my life. I know that my purpose in life is something more. I know that the confusion I face and the loneliness I feel will one day disappear…Asking for God’s guidance and reflecting on His power, I am only now discovering the richness of His words, actions, and creations. I now have a longing for something in my life that only God can fill. I no longer yearn for material possession or fleeting emotions. I know there is a fulfillment waiting for me.” Junior student
This artwork, created by Ellie Schlinkert, expresses social justice themes, especially the dignity of the human person and the dignity of work. “The golden streaks coming down from the sky represents how God calls out to be the light for others…the light always conquers the darkness.”

Crusader of the Week
The Crusader of the Week for Latin Two Honors is Molly Kamer. Recently in class, students were working with a partner to decide what topic they wanted to study for a research project. They had been given a list of topics to choose from, and Molly’s partner suggested they do the first one on the list. Molly responded, “I already know about that; I want to learn something new.” This personal drive to further her education has led Ms. Kempf to award Molly Crusader of the Week. For the past two years of Latin, Molly has consistently shown that she cares about and enjoys learning. She is a hard worker who asks intelligent questions to further her knowledge. In addition, her friendly and outgoing personality makes her a joy to have in class. Congratulations, Molly!
