Please consider volunteering so we can continue to offer these events/opportunities for our students and Cru family. Contact Elaine Stich at [email protected] with questions or to "sign-up"!

New CRU Day
New CRU Day is for Incoming Freshmen and all transfer students.
Welcome to the Crusader Family! We are so delighted to meet your student in August and to help shape them into the wonderful young people God is calling them to be! Before the first bell rings on August 15, we invite your student to participate in our earliest Crusader event of the academic year, New Cru Day.
On August 3rd, all incoming freshmen and transfer students will gather at the SHAC (St. Henry Athletic Complex, 35 Cavalier Blvd. Florence) for a fun day of games and the opportunity to get to know their fellow classmates. SHDHS has students entering from many schools across the Tri-State and this is a fantastic way for them to start living out our motto: Come as Many, Leave as One.
Not only will students meet their classmates, but they will also interact with upperclassmen, student volunteers, and faculty members to make them feel comfortable and excited to enter the halls of SHDHS on their first day! All students will receive a t-shirt commemorating this special day as well!
One student volunteer recently said this about New Cru day:
“New Cru Day really helped me and I wouldn’t have gotten through high school if it weren’t for that day. I wanna help freshmen like me who came in knowing no one.”
Date: August 3
Time: 10 am-1 pm
Who: All incoming freshmen and transfer students
Where: SHAC (St. Henry Athletic Complex) 35 Cavalier Blvd, Florence, KY 41042
Please fill out this form by July 1. To complete the form, please go to the Enrollment Portal where you registered your student for school. There is a button for New Cru Day on the Home Dashboard.
We would love for your student to join us in celebration of the Class of 2026 and the exciting next four years that await them at SHDHS! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Hannah Vollmer at [email protected] or Angela Hartwig at [email protected].

Scholarships
CHARLOTTE RUEHL FLYNN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
SHDHS is pleased to announce that this year's Charlotte Ruehl Flynn Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to Jada Purcell.
The Charlotte Ruehl Flynn Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Charlotte Ruehl Flynn, a 1940 graduate of SHDHS, and is open to incoming freshmen, current freshmen, current sophomores, and current juniors who attended St. Henry Grade School or are members of St. Henry Parish.
Mrs. Flynn's children, Walt and Betty, established this annual scholarship to honor their mother's love of, and appreciation for, the education she received during her years at St. Henry. Each applicant is asked to submit an essay explaining “ Why a Catholic High School Education is important to me.”
In Jada's essay submission, she said that Mrs. Flynn’s values were very important to her and her family. "[Mrs. Flynn] believes in Catholic schooling, as do I. This schooling has taught me: 'actions speak louder than words,' 'hard work pays off,' and 'always do your best.' I believe all children are children of God, and to grow as one, Catholic education is necessary. My parents are the ones who have supported me the most. They pay for mine and my brothers' schooling and I am so thankful that they have given me this great opportunity. If I didn’t have the privilege of going to St. Henry School, I don’t know where I would be today."
SHDHS is excited to welcome Jada to the Crusader family as a new incoming freshman this fall. Congratulations Jada!
SARA MEINEKE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
SHDHS is pleased to announce that this year's Sara Meineke Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to Ella Carota.
The Sara Meineke Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Sara Meineke, a 2006 graduate of SHDHS, and is awarded to a current SHDHS freshman, sophomore, or junior on an annual basis. As a student and athlete, Sara was a driven and determined individual. She was an excellent team player, and as a friend and family member, she always made a point to be there and be supportive of her friends and teammates.
Each applicant submitted an essay answering “How are you demonstrating kindness and support of others and what does participating in extracurricular activities mean to you? Talk about a time where you went out of your way to make someone feel included or supported.” In making their selection, the Meineke family commented that they received many wonderful applications this year. And while they felt that all of the applicants' essays displayed examples of what Sara is remembered for...kindness and including others...Ella's essay seemed to best exemplify those qualities. Congratulations Ella!

Swiss Alps and Mediterranean Coast 2023
Dear families,
We are making one more push for our trip next summer (2023) to the Alps and Mediterranean Coast. Please follow this link to go to our tour page, check out the itinerary, see the price options, and enroll in our tour. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students. Currently, the trip is just over half full, and we'd love to fill the remaining spots and add more if possible. Enrolling early locks in the current price and helps with more affordable payments.
If you have questions, please reach out.
