Crusaders of the Week
Quentin Bolton is the Crusader of the Week for Mrs. Ryan's Religion class. Quent's outgoing personality has been a welcome addition to the 5th period this year. I've witnessed his spiritual growth through his willingness to engage in class, lead prayer, and give thoughtful and insightful responses to assignments. I also admire Quent's courage to witness to his classmates on senior retreat, help his teacher with a Bluetooth crisis, and his brilliant Scripture references during his broadcasts. Quent, I look forward to seeing you bring the love of Christ with you as you continue on life's journey. Congratulations Quent!
Korra Zimmer is nominated for Crusader of the Week by Mrs. Shea, Mrs. Ryan, and Mrs. Finke for exemplifying the true Crusader spirit. Not only has Korra excelled with her organization and academic skills, but she has also demonstrated the ability to remain focused and diligent while dividing her time between schoolwork and being a three-sport athlete for SHDHS. For these reasons, Korra remains an excellent role model for her peers. We are proud of her work ethic, determination, and grit and are so happy that she has found the success she deserves. Congratulations, Korra!
The Spanish Honor Society visited Jungle Jim's on Thursday to explore some Hispanic foods and cultural items. This coincided with our current unit in Spanish 3 Honors, which explores the topics of healthy living and the diets and cuisine of Spanish-speaking countries. Students could try different tropical fruits from Colombia, snacks from Mexico, desserts from Spain and the Caribbean, and more international cuisine worldwide.
AP BIO students use lab equipment from the Mini PCR company to visualize gene expression using fluorescent cell-free technology.
Battle of the Beaks!
During this fun lab activity, each sophomore biology student is equipped with a beak type and competes with peers to collect the most “food” in 30-second feeding intervals during a study of natural selection. Tweezer beaks were the winners and could easily manage all food types!
2023 Mousetrap Cars/STEM CLASS
The Freshman STEM students just completed their mousetrap car contest. Congratulations to our winners, Liz Addington, Sadie Egan, and Caroline Tabeling, whose car traveled 16.3 meters for the best overall distance. Congrats to all the students on a project done well and safely! Please enjoy this slideshow of each of the engineering teams by class period. The final slide lists are the top 10 teams.

Coaches & Assistant Coaches wanted for the Crusader Youth League Spring 2023 Flag Football Season. This would be a one-day-a-week commitment, practice, and games on Wednesday nights. No experience is needed; you must be 18 or older. We've had a fantastic turnout for registration, with over 250 players. We will be practicing/playing on the SHDHS new turf field. You would be signing up to volunteer your time to be a coach for our first-ever flag football league this spring. I know everyone is busy, but leagues like this are impossible without people like you willing to give their time to help our youth. We are looking to make this a first-class league where our players can get exposed to flag football, improve their skills, learn the values of teamwork, and hopefully have a ton of fun at the same time.
The season starts on 4/19/2023 and ends on 5/17/2023 - The season is five weeks long.
Post-season tournament games on 5/24/23 and 5/31/23
If you're interested, please sign up at crusaderyouthleague.com.
We are calling all Volunteers. If refereeing or coaching is not your thing, that's OK. We still need your help. We would love as many volunteers as possible to help us organize, manage, and execute on game nights. This is a great way to get involved with the early football stages at SHDHS.
If you're interested in volunteering, please sign up at crusaderyouthleague.com.

40 Days for Life: St. Henry has been asked to participate in the 40 Days for Life Campaign that is taking place this month. Several local high schools have been asked to take a one-hour shift praying in front of Planned Parenthood in Mt Auburn (near UC). Our shift is on Sunday, March 12th, from 1–2 pm. Cov Cath has the 12–1 pm shift, and we will follow. This is open to all students and their families. We can carpool from St. Henry, meet at Holy Name Church (2422 Auburn Ave), and walk down together. Planned Parenthood is not open on Sundays, this is a peaceful, organized event, and security will be present. This will count for one red hour of service. Don't miss this opportunity to pray for the dignity of life. Contact Tina Ryan at [email protected] for more information.
FEC Meeting: The next FEC meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 21, at 7 pm in the media center; We will discuss the end-of-year activities such as Teacher Appreciation Week, Graduation/Baccalaureate needs, and initial plans for next year. All are welcome to attend!
GO Pantry/FEC Service Project: The FEC has teamed up with GO Pantry for a service project in their warehouse on Sunday, 3/26, from 1–3 pm. We will be creating Go Bags and boxing them up. We are looking for a couple of parent volunteers/supervisors for this project. I appreciate your help! Please sign up using this link: https://signup.com/go/mHUyZYy.

Enrollment for Germany 2025 is NOW OPEN
I’m so excited to invite you to join us in Germany (and a bit of France) in the Summer of 2025! As I mentioned at our info session last week, educational travel exposes students to new people, places, and cultures, expanding their knowledge of the world and their knowledge of themselves. I’m thrilled to bring this opportunity to your family and our community!
Please remember that students who will be 8th graders going into 9th grade (or younger) in June of 2025 will NOT be eligible for this trip, and all students must be enrolled at SHDHS. Also, adults are welcome on the trip, but there is limited space, so enroll quickly to save your spot!
Visit my info page here: www.eftours.com/2623376at to enroll. Enroll by Sun, March 12, to lock in your $200 discount and take advantage of EF’s risk-free enrollment period. We have limited space available!
Below is the preliminary information you should know for those who couldn’t attend the info session. Once you’ve reviewed the news, you can enroll online or contact me with any questions.
I’ve partnered with EF Tours, the world leader in international education, to offer this experience. Read more about how EF supports our group, including additional info about safety, affordability, credit options, and more: https://www.eftours.com/how-it-works/for-parents.
